If you are thinking about having a vasectomy, you are better off to consider this procedure permanent.  Although a vasectomy reversal is available, it is not always effective.  A vasectomy reversal only has about a 60 percent success rate.

A vasectomy is one of the most popular forms of birth control and definitely the most effective.  A vasectomy is a simple procedure in which the tubes that deliver sperm are sutured so that semen no longer contains sperm.  A vasectomy can usually be done right in the office of a physician or in a clinic.

In addition to having a high failure rate, a vasectomy reversal is also very costly.  The cost for the procedure is usually around five thousand dollars and is not covered by health insurance.  And because of the statistics, there is no guarantee of success. While there are virtually no physical risks to having a vasectomy reversal, it can be costly and unsuccessful.

Before opting for a vasectomy, make sure that you no longer want to be able to father children.  If you are positive that this is the case, then you will find much success with this method of birth control.  If, however, you have doubts, do not rely on the possibility of a vasectomy reversal as this procedure, in addition to being costly, may not work for you. You are better off to consider a vasectomy as a permanent procedure.
